If you’re running a campaign for a council, a health body or another public organisation, you’re spending public money and you’ll be asked to show it was worth it, often with an audience that isn’t looking for your message at all. Here’s some of the work we’ve done for the public sector.
How TV works for the public sector
TV reaches people who’d never search for your message or follow your accounts, which is often the whole difficulty with public information, and regional and household-targeted airtime keeps the spend inside the area you serve. We can sometimes use existing footage or graphics to keep the production costs sensible, and we’ve explained when that’s possible in can I use my existing video as a TV ad?
The message needs to be clear and it needs to be human, because people respond much better to a friendly reminder than they do to a lecture. It helps to ask for one thing at a time as well, since an advert that tries to cover everything a service does tends to be remembered for none of it.
Our public sector work includes a winter campaign for the NHS and an advert for Beat Covid NE. We’ve also made campaigns for local councils, including Enjoy Darlington and The Word in South Shields, as well as an advert for Reed in Partnership that was aimed at employers.
Because you’ll be asked what the campaign achieved, it’s worth agreeing at the start how that will be judged, and we’ve covered the options in how to measure whether your TV ad worked. If you’ve a campaign coming up, let’s have a chat about it, and if you need to put a budget together first, we’ve explained what TV advertising costs.

Reed in Partnership help job seekers into work, and this advert was aimed at the businesses who could be employing them.

Every winter, A&E departments come under extra strain, and some of that strain is avoidable. This advert was made to remind people of that.
