Recruitment campaigns have two possible audiences, the people you want to hire and the employers you want to work with, and the first job is always deciding which of them you’re talking to. Either way, you’re usually trying to reach people who aren’t looking, because many of the candidates you’d like already have a job, and most employers only think about recruitment when there’s a vacancy to fill.
How TV works for recruitment
TV is good at reaching people who aren’t scrolling through job boards, and it lets them see the workplace and the people they’d be joining, which a listing can’t do. Buying by region keeps the campaign within a realistic travelling distance.
It pays to keep the message simple, because one clear idea about what’s on offer and what to do next will do far more for you than a long list of benefits. Our advert for Reed in Partnership, made with the agency Narrative, told businesses about a talented pool of job seekers who were ready to be employed, and it kept the script to a minimum so that the one message had nothing to compete with.
